Job Summary:
As a Design Engineer - Drivetrain at Caterpillar, you will develop integrated drivetrain for construction and mining equipment. Area of responsibility include drivetrain system and components design, development, validation and testing in new products, continuous improvement and cost reduction projects, key areas include transmission, torque converter, axle, etc. You will collaborate with global cross function team of engineering, operations and purchasing around. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology.
What You Will Do:
Drivetrain system and component design and development, technical support for manufacturing and testing
Collaborating with functional areas (marketing, purchasing, manufacturing etc.) to understand customer voice, prepare and evaluate design concepts, complete feasibility studies and provide design solutions to meet the requirements
Perform detail design (2D/3D), analysis/simulation, lead system and component design reviews
Follow and update designs through build, test and validation, collaborate with global operations, purchasing and the supply base to meet product and design cost targets.
Resolves issues regarding the manufacturing or building sequences. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
Work with cross functional teams to support parts development, supplier process and quality control
Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
Planning and improving engineering procedures and operations to make the product or process more reliable, efficient and cost-effective.
Education requirement:
Requires a bachelor or above degree in an accredited Engineering (mechanical, vehicle, material) curriculum
What skills you will have:
Technical Excellence:
4 years working experience on drivetrain and/or mechanical design
Deep working knowledge of drivetrain operation and application features.
Good knowledge of Geometry Dimensioning
